Royal German Castles Tour
Experience the feeling of Royal lifestyle of yesteryear,
staying in beautifully restored castle hotels, some dating back 500 years
and built to accommodate the tastes of medieval Peers and Counts.
Itinerary: Day 1 (Sunday) Frankfurt - Rüdesheim
Depart Frankfurt in the morning, enroute to
Rüdesheim, famous for its wines and vineyards. Board your cruise
ship for a Rhine River cruise to Boppard, passing romantic castles.
Lunch will be served on board. Return to Rüdesheim in the afternoon
by coach. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner at 'Jagd-schloss
Niederwald'. Overnight at Jagdschloss Niederwald, Rüdesheim.

Day 2 (Monday) Rüdesheim - Heidelberg -
Bad Rappenau
Morning departure by coach to Heidelberg where
we visit the inner courtyard of the impressive Heidelberg Castle and
its wine cellar. Continue your walking tour through this beautiful
old university town. In the afternoon we take the Castle Road along
the River Neckar, passing by Neckarsteinach to Bad Rappenau. Overnight
at Schloss Heinsheim, Bad Rappenau. B
Day 3 (Tuesday) Bad Rappenau - Rothenburg - Würzburg
This morning we continue our journey to Rothenburg.
After a walking tour of this historic and charming town including a
visit to Jakobschurch with an altar by woodcarver T.Riemenschneider,
depart for Würzburg. Enjoy a tour of the magnificent Würzburg
Palace and Gardens, the centrepiece being the Residence - a masterpiece
of German Baroque architecture. Overnight at Schloss Steinburg, Würzburg. B
Day 4 (Wednesday) Würzburg - Nuremberg - Landshut
We continue our journey with a visit to the historic
city of Nuremberg, with its unique medieval city centre. Your walking
tour includes the most interesting sights of Nuremberg - the Kaiserburg
dating back to 1040, St. Lorenz church, town wall and more. Stop at
the Reichsparteitagsgelaende, (the former Nazi Party rallying ground)
before continuing to Landshut, situated 50km east of Munich. Overnight
at Schloss Schönbrunn, Landshut. B
Day 5 (Thursday) Landshut - Munich - Landshut
This morning depart for Munich. Your sightseeing
tour of this splendid Bavarian capital includes the City Hall, Marienplatz,
Olympic ground and a visit to Nymphenburg Palace. Afternoon at leisure.
Overnight at Schloss Schönbrunn, Landshut. B
Day 6 (Friday) Landshut - Neuschwanstein - Wies -
Oberammergau, Ettal - Landshut
Your full day touring programme includes a visit
to Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein (the fairy tale castle of King
Ludwig II), the glorious rococo church at Wies, Oberammergau (home
of the famous Passion Play staged every 10 years) and the Benedictine
Monastery at Ettal. Overnight at Schloss Schönbrunn, Landshut. B
Day 7 (Saturday) Landshut - Berchtesgaden - Salzburg
- Fuschl
Today we follow the German Alpine Road which provides
us with splendid views of the Bavarian Alps. In Berchtesgaden, we ascend
to the Eagle's Nest, Hitler's mountain retreat. We continue our journey
to Salzburg, where we visit the Mirabell Gardens, Mozart's House and
explore the Getreidegasse and many other sights of the charming, narrow
streets of Salzburg. This evening, enjoy a farewell dinner at your
hotel . Overnight at Schlosshotel Fuschl. BD
Day 8 (Sunday) Fuschl - Munich/Frankfurt Airport
Depart Fuschl for your choice of either Munich
Airport or Frankfurt Airport, where your tour ends, arriving late afternoon.
Post-tour accommodation at Munich or Frankfurt is available on request. B
