A journey through Heidelberg, Rhine Valley and Cologne!

Itinerary:

Day 1 (Saturday) Frankfurt Arrival
Arrive Frankfurt and transfer by private vehicle from Airport to your hotel. In the late afternoon your tour-guide meets you with a welcome drink at the lobby of the hotel. Enjoy a small city tour of Frankfurt. Overnight at InterCityHotel Frankfurt.

Day 2 (Sunday) Frankfurt – Heidelberg – Trier
In the morning, continue to the old university town Heidelberg. After visiting the inner courtyard of the impressive Heidelberg castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and its wine cellar with the big barrel enjoy a welcome lunch with an excellent local wine at famous Restaurant Zum Ritter St. Georg, built in the 16th century. In the early afternoon drive to Trier, Germany’s oldest city and located on the river Moselle. The Roman colony of Augusta Treverorum (Trier) was founded under Augustus in 16 BC. Trier became a favoured residence of several Roman emperors. Overnight at Hotel Golden Tulip Trier.

Day 3 (Monday) Trier – Cologne
In the morning depart for the well known town Rhine River town of Ruedesheim. After a quick stroll along the world famous Drosselgasse, board your steamer and start cruising along vineyards and castles, some more than 1000 years old to St. Goarshausen, just beyond Loreley Rock. Possibility to see the blond maid combing her hair from the deck of your steamer. Continue by coach to Koblenz, where the Moselle river meets the Rhine, and from here drive to Cologne. The evening is free to explore some local breweries, and the opportunity to sample "Kölsch" (light beer served in small glasses). Overnight in Cologne Hotel Jolly Media Park, or similar.

Day 4 (Tuesday) Cologne
After breakfast start touring from Cologne Cathedral, one of the largest gothic churches in Europe. The city tour will lead you through small old-town alleys and splendid avenues to the Rhine River with its bridges and parks. A visit to the Chocolate Museum is included in the program with the opportunity to sample as much chocolate as you can consume from the large chocolate fountain. The rest of the afternoon is free to explore Cologne at your leisure. Overnight in Cologne.

Day 5 (Wednesday) Cologne - Koblenz – Rüdesheim
The tour continues to Koblenz where the river Moselle meets the Rhine. In the early afternoon take a Rhine cruise from St. Goar to Rüdesheim, passing romantic castles and the Loreley Rock. Maybe you’ll see the blond maid combing her hair from the deck of your steamer. On the arrival in Ruedesheim have a tasting of Rhine wines and check-in to your hotel in Rüdesheim. Farewell Dinner at Restaurant Rüdesheimer Schloss.

Day 6 Rüdesheim - Mainz - Frankfurt
It is only a 45 minutes drive from Rüdesheim to Mainz. Visit the Old Town, the cathedral and the Museum of Gutenberg - the inventor of the printing press - before reaching Frankfurt again where your tour ends in the afternoon. You have the option to stay overnight (refer to Frankfurt accommodation options on page 12) before departing for your next destination.
