ItineraryDay 1 Frankfurt – Würzburg – Rothenburg
Depart from Frankfurt in the morning for a drive through the Spessart Mountains to Würzburg. Enjoy a tour of the Residence, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Continue on the Romantic Road to Rothenburg, Germany’s “Jewel of the Middle Ages“. Partake in a walking tour which includes a visit to the Jakobskirche with an altar by Tilman Riemenschneider. Enjoy a welcome dinner with a welcome drink. Afterwards join the tour with Night Watchman Overnight at Hotel Eisenhut or similar. Day 2
Rothenburg – Augsburg – Munich
Today continue along the Romantic Road. See charming villages like Dinkelsbühl or Nördlingen before arriving at Augsburg. Continue to the Bavarian capital, Munich. Enjoy a city tour, showing you the sights of the Bavarian capital including the Nymphenburg Palace and Olympic Tower before checking into your hotel. In the afternoon, take a walk to the ‘Glockenspiel’ (carillon) at Marienplatz. The evening is free for own activities. Overnight at Hotel Eizglesserei or similar.
Day 3
Munich – Garmisch-Partenkirchen - Ettal - Oberammergau - Füssen Depending on the weather conditions on this day, drive to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, situated at the foot the Zugspitze and one of the most important wintersport towns in Southern Germany, before going on to the Benedectine Abbey of Ettal and to Oberammergau. The village is internationally famous for its Passion Play – generally performed every ten years – and for its numerous buildings with Tromp l’oeil (lueftlmalerei) painted façades. Before arriving in Füssen, we make a short stop at the glorious Rococo church in Wies. Overnight at Luitpoldpark-Hotel or similar. Day 4
Füssen – Hohenschwangau – Linderhof – Rottenbuch – Füssen From Füssen it is only a short trip to Hohenschwangau and the castle of King Ludwig II, Neuschwanstein! After a guided visit, continue to Linderhof and its castle on a scenic tour through Austria. In the late afternoon, arrive back to Füssen to see more Rococo architecture, the monastery church Rottenbuch. Overnight at Luitpoldpark-hotel or similar. Day 5 Füssen – Lake Constance – Lindau - Konstanz
The tour continues to Lake Constance. Arrive at the north shore of the lake, located between Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Enjoy a walking tour of Lindau before continuing to Konstanz. Continue to Singen. Overnight at Hotel Holiday Inn Express or similar. Day 6 Lake Constance - Black Forest - Freiburg – Heidelberg
Travel to the Black Forest and Freiburg. After a city tour of Friiburg, continue to Heidelberg where you will see the inner courtyard of the impressive castle, a UneSCo World Heritage Site, and the wine cellar with its big barrel. Enjoy a 3-course farewell dinner at Zum Ritter St. Georg Restaurant. Overnight at Hotel Zum Ritter St. Georg or similar. Day 7
Heidelberg – Rüdesheim – Frankfurt
Depart Heidelberg in the early morning to travel to the Upper Middle Rhine Valley, also a declared UneSCo World Heritage Site and famous for its wines and vineyards. In Ruedesheim we board a steamer for a Rhine River cruise, passing fascinating castles, ruins and the legendary Loreley Rock. Your coach awaits you in St. Goarshausen to bring you back to Frankfurt where your exciting journey ends with a short panoramic city tour of Germany’s financial capital at approx. 04:00 pm. |
