Depart Frankfurt for a picturesque drive through the Spessart Mountains to Würzburg, on the banks of the River Main. Continue on the Romantic Road to Rothenburg, Germany's well preserved 'Jewel of the Middle Ages' with its ramparts, city gates, town hall and Jakobskirche church, with an altar by famous wood-carver Tilman Riemenschneider. On arrival in Rothenburg, a taxi will take you to your hotel. In the afternoon or evening, join the city walk with a local guide or historic Night Watchman in Rothenburg. Overnight at Hotel Spitzweg or similar.

Spend the morning at your leisure. This afternoon, transfer by taxi to your coach stop. Your coach drives along the Romantic Road, passing such picturesque places as Dinkelsbühl, Nördlingen and Donauworth, with high-gabled houses and cobbled streets. Continue through Augsburg, a metropolis during the Roman times and famous for old trade dynasties during the Middle Ages, and reach Hohenschangau. Overnight at Hotel Muller or similar. B

This morning, collect your entrance tickets to Neuschwanstein Castle from the hotel front desk. Visit the famous 'Cinderella Castle' built by King Ludwig II. Late in the afternoon, proceed to Munich where your tour ends at about 7pm. B

This itinerary may be travelled in reverse, departing Munich daily at 8.30am and finishing on Day 3 in Frankfurt at about 8pm. The reverse itinerary includes an additional visit to Linderhof Castle.
